Youth Ballet
Ages 8 – 18This is a great program for the beginner to the advanced dancer that provides a nurturing learning environment for a young dancer. The dancer learns ballet in an enriching classroom setting with live music in each class.
The dancer will learn the discipline of the ballet tradition, and ballet terminology and practice the fundamentals of ballet, using a building block method of training, necessary to progress into more advanced levels of ballet training.
This program has two performance opportunities each year.

Beginner Ballet

Beginner Ballet, designed for ages 8-12, encompasses the first years of classical ballet training. This class focuses on the basic elements of correct postural alignment, weight transfer, and basic steps of the Ballet vocabulary. This very important level is vital in establishing a firm base on which future training will be built. This is the perfect class for students who are new to Ballet or want to take class at a lesser commitment than our pre-professional Youth Program.

The Nutcracker & The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Nutcracker
Students from the Joffrey Ballet School’s Children's & Youth Ballet program will present the full two act holiday tradition, “The Nutcracker” at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center.
As a work for students, it is an ideal challenge and gives many opportunities to dancers from the "babies" to the young adults as a collaboration with the Ballet Trainee Program. Set to what is regarded as Tchaikovsky's best ballet score, the story tells the courage and love of a small girl, Clara, in breaking the wicked spell held over the Nutcracker Prince.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Joffrey Ballet School Children’s & Youth Ballet Programs proudly present the innovative retelling of the classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Join Dorothy and Toto and their trusted friends, Tinman, Lion and Scarecrow who together with the help of the Good Witches of the North and South, follow the Yellow Brick Road in search of theGreat and powerful Wizard in the Emerald City. Dance down the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy as she meets strange and odd characters; witches, flying monkeys, castle guards, enchanted poppies, a yellow brick road that comes to life, dancing corn cobs and more.
This live performance will be held on May 17, 2026 at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center.

Refund Policy
It is the policy of the Center for American Dance / Joffrey Ballet School that all tuition and other fees paid shall not be refunded at any time, regardless of the time of cancellation by the student or student's parents/guardians or whether the relevant program has commenced. New students are encouraged to schedule a trail class before registering.
In the event that the relevant program is re-scheduled or switched to remote instruction due to circumstances outside of the School’s control, and a student chooses not to attend, a credit will be issued to be used towards Joffrey Ballet School programing. This credit will have no expiry date and be transferable to another student.
In the event that the program is cancelled by the Center for American Dance / Joffrey Ballet School, the School will make best efforts to move the student into a substantially similar program. Such similar programming will be age appropriate to the student and within the same genre of dance as the original program. If no such similar programming is available, or has already filled to capacity, the student will be issued a refund. If the student chooses not to attend the similar program, a credit will be issued to be used towards Joffrey Ballet School programing. This credit will have no expiry date and be transferable to another student.
Return Policy
A fee of $15.00 will be charged for any credit card/debit card charge not honored by the bank for any reason when processing any credit card/debit card charge. Please call us no less than thirty (30) days in advance of any change to your credit card/debit card account to prevent this $15.00 fee from being charged

Students register for the academic year with a minimum financial commitment for the Fall Semester.. This is not a drop in class/program. Students enrolling for the Fall semester will have their enrollment automatically renewed for the Spring semester on December 1st unless they “Opt Out”. Those who wish to opt out in Spring, will need to email joffreyregistrar@joffreyballetschool.com with the subject line “JBS Children’s/Youth Ballet Program Spring Opt Out” and include their dancer’s name and classes they are enrolled in by December 1st.

Placement Class & Information Request
Joffrey Ballet School is located at 434 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10011
Placement classes are required for the Youth Program. Placement classes allow our Artistic Team to fully evaluate prospective students to determine which level in the Joffrey Ballet curriculum is the most appropriate fit. The level assigned by the Artistic Director for the placement class is not the finalized level placement for the semester. If the student registers for the semester, the $30 placement class fee will be credited to the dancer's account. This fee is non-refundable.
