Absolute Beginner Ballet
Absolute Beginner Ballet is designed for adults with no prior dance experience who have a passion for learning ballet. Classes offer a welcoming and friendly environment with individualized instruction to introduce the core fundamentals of ballet. Participants will learn basic body positions, core exercises such as plié and tendu, how to stand at the barre with proper alignment and posture, ballet terminology, and classroom etiquette. At the Absolute Beginner level there is a strong emphasis placed on proper body alignment, hip rotation, and postural placement.

Absolute Beginner Ballet - Fall 2025 Session | Price: $199
The workshop meets once a week on Tuesday's from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
September 16, 2025 - October 21, 2025 (6 Weeks; 6 sessions)
Class Description:
This introductory workshop is specially designed for adults who have a passion and desire to learn ballet but have no prior dance experience. The classes provide a welcoming and friendly environment, with individualized instruction and attention, which exposes you to the core fundamentals of ballet in a relaxed and comfortable class setting. Throughout this workshop you will learn the basic body positions, core ballet exercises such as plié and tendu, how to stand at the barre with appropriate body alignment and posture, an introduction to ballet terminology as well as ballet classroom etiquette. An emphasis on proper body alignment will be a key point of focus, in addition to hip rotation and postural placement.
Registration is required for this workshop as this is a series of 6 classes, not single drop-in classes. Consistent attendance is important, as each class will build upon the previous concepts studied. Students can not miss more than 1/4 of the workshop series.

Decoding Ballet - Fall 2025 Session | Price: $175
The workshop meets once a week on Tuesday's from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
October 28, 2025 - December 2, 2025 (5 Weeks; 5 sessions)
Class Description:
This beginner-level workshop is designed for adults with foundational ballet experience who are ready to deepen their understanding and practice of ballet technique. In a supportive and engaging environment, participants will refine their mastery of fundamental movements while exploring more complex combinations and exercises. Decoding Ballet is the perfect option for a dancer looking for development beyond our Absolute Beginner Workshop, or as supplement to our Basic Beginner and Beginner level weekly open classes.
Decoding Ballet will build upon knowledge of core exercises. Proper alignment, postural placement, and coordination will remain key areas of focus, along with a more detailed exploration of ballet terminology and classroom etiquette.
As a progressive series, consistent attendance is essential, with each session building on the last. Registration is required, and participants may not miss more than 25% of the classes to ensure continuity and growth throughout the workshop.

Pre-Register for an In-Person Class
View our online schedule and pre-register for an in-person class. Pre-registration is mandatory.

Prepare for your Arrival
Arrive at Joffrey Ballet School no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of your class. If you arrive earlier, you will be asked to wait outside. Hallways and lobbies will not be open as a gathering or warm-up space.
At the 3rd Floor office, a Joffrey staff member will check you in for class. You will no longer need to show proof of vaccination or a completed Health Screening Form.
Dressing rooms for women are located on the 3rd floor. Dressing rooms for men are located on the 4th floor. There are private bathrooms located on the fifth floor.

At the end of class, we kindly ask dancers to exit the studios as quickly as possible.
