The program orientation will be virtual and is mandatory for all students. Students will receive the ZOOM information in their Welcome email.

Thursday, July 7 at 6:00 PM EST for students starting on July 11.

Thursday, July 14 at 6:00 PM EST for students starting on July 18.

Thursday, July 21 at 6:00 PM EST for students starting on July 25.

Schedules will be posted on the website and group assignments will be emailed no later than a week before a student’s arrival.

IMPORTANT: Pre-determined group assignments are based on the dancer’s age and the audition score received during the audition tour. The same applies to those who were scored using a digital audition. Students attending one week will not be able to move groups. All students are evaluated during their first week of attendance to ensure they are in the proper group. Unfortunately due to policies designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 we cannot mix groups of students during the week so it’s not possible to move a student until their second week. Additionally, we may not be able to move a student if the other group is at capacity due to social distancing requirements.

Joffrey Ballet School is committed to providing an inclusive environment for all students. Non-gender conforming students, students with religious and cultural considerations and any student needing additional support is welcome to contact us to discuss the dress code. Please contact our Customer Service department with any dress code questions and/or concerns.

Dress Code for female-identifying students

• Ballet: Black leotard or colored leotard, skin tone or pink tights (under the leotard and covering legs and feet completely), skin tone or pink ballet slippers and pointe shoes. Warm up clothes must be removed before class starts.
• Pointe/Variations: skirts may be worn.
• Other classes: Dance leggings, pants or shorts with a fitted T-shirt, socks, lyrical half sole or jazz slip on shoes.
• Hip Hop: Sweatpants, T-shirt, Sneakers
• Hair for Ballet classes: Dancers should secure their hair in a bun with a hair net.
• Hair for Other classes: Dancers should slick hair back in a ponytail. 

Dress Code for male-identifying students

• Ballet: Black tights,or colored tights Black, white or  colored  t-shirt with black or white socks, and black or white ballet shoes. Skin tone or black dance belt.

• Dancers with longer hair should secure their hair in a ponytail.

The Joffrey Dallas Intensive will present a final production at the conclusion of the program entitled “Embers”.

Parking Instructions: Park in the Lowry Woods parking lot, at 1446 Oakland St, Denton, TX 76201.

No parents, guardians or visitors are allowed to be in the building. All students must be dropped off outside, in front of the building entrance.

Masks are optional for students, but are not required.

All in-person students will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR or Rapid test, administered within 4 days before arrival at our dorms or start date of the intensive. While we encourage all students to be vaccinated, it is not required to attend Joffrey programs in Texas. On-site faculty and staff are vaccinated. Studio capacity limits and enhanced sanitization procedures remain in place. Our COVID protocols may be updated to remain compliant with local or federal laws.

A completed physical or physician’s note from within the last 12 months are required and should be completed before a dancer begins their selected intensive.

If you have a completed physical examination for your dancer from within the last calendar year, you can substitute it in place of the Dr’s note.

A hard copy of a doctor’s note giving health clearance for a dancer’s attendance will need to be provided by any student attending a live on-person summer program. The letter must state that the dancer is healthy and physically able to participate in the summer program. This form will be submitted during the dancer’s online pre-check in process. A complete physical  is not necessary.

You can use our standard form or your doctor can provide their own letter or physical.

At this time there are no travel restrictions for domestic students. No quarantine will be required of commuter or housing students on arrival.

Typically, classes are held from 8-5 / 9-6 daily, Monday-Friday only. PLEASE NOTE: Additional rehearsals may be scheduled during performance week and may extend a dancer’s day. (If you are commuting, you can expect your class schedule to begin between 8:30am and 10:30 in the morning.)

Schedules for our intensives are made available the week prior to the program start date. Schedules are posted on the Joffrey website and will be updated every Sunday for the upcoming week. Schedules can be viewed online, and will also be handed out during orientation.

Housing is available for students 12 years and older.

There is one housing location for our Joffrey Dallas intensives. Housing assignments are made by our Residence Life team and are not finalized until just prior to the intensive start date. Dancers will receive this information the Thursday prior to their scheduled arrival. We are unable to take requests for specific housing assignments.

CHECK IN

Housing check-ins are on Sundays from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The student must get a COVID-19 PCR or rapid test within the 4 days prior to arrival at the dorm and submit the (negative) test result before checking in. Students are only allowed to check in during the scheduled time. Early check-in will not be permitted.

Upon arrival, please check-in at the front desk in the lobby. Only students should enter the lobby to check in with the RA on duty.

CHECK OUT

Students must check out of the dorm before they leave for classes on the Friday of their last week. The dorm will provide storage for students who would like to pick up their belongings after classes. All belongings must be picked up on Friday. Housing students are required to schedule a check out time and will be required to move out during that time. Dancers staying at the residence hall for multiple weeks do not have to check out during the weekends.

Joffrey Housing staff will provide an escort to/from the dorm on a sign-up basis for students 14+. Students under 14 will be accompanied by a Joffrey staff member at all times. This includes daily trips to/from the assigned studio. The students will have scheduled meeting times each morning to meet to travel together to the studios. They will also have a scheduled travel group to return to the housing locations for evening check in.

All students will be assigned to double bedrooms. Students may request roommates under the following conditions: Roommates must reside in housing for the same period of time and must attend the same intensive and be assigned to the same group.

Please note that although we will make every effort to accommodate requests, it might not always be possible. Roommate Requests are $100 per dancer. If we are unable to honor a request, the resident will receive a credit towards their tuition.

*Groups are not assigned until a few days before a student’s arrival. If students who requested to be roommates are placed in different groups, they will be unable to room together.

The Meal Plan is required for dancers staying in housing. Students on the meal plan will have three meals daily provided Monday through Friday and two meals daily on Saturday and Sunday. Meals will be served in a dining hall on campus. *Times are subject to change.

If you have questions or special dietary needs, please contact our Director of Residence Life prior to registering for the meal plan. The meal plan is non-refundable.

• Cleaning supplies: Disinfectant/sanitizing/cleaning products, wipes, paper towels, broom, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc.
• Bedding: Twin XL sheets, blankets, pillows, pillowcases, mattress toppers, mattress pad, etc.
• Bathroom essentials and toiletries. JBS does not provide toilet paper.
• Electronics: laptops, tablets, chargers, etc. JBS does not provide cable.
• Storage: Hangers, hanging/floor shoe rack, storage containers, tupperware, etc.
• Cell Phone (Required): All housing students are required to have a phone with a United States phone number. International students may choose to purchase a “pay as you go” package or turn on their roaming feature.

Joffrey Ballet School does not offer Airport Transportation for this intensive.
