Job Description

Join the Joffrey Ballet School and be part of an inspiring team supporting our dynamic summer intensives across the country. We are seeking proactive, passionate individuals for roles in Operations: Residence Life, and Administration, Program Coordination, Health & Wellness, Marketing, and Accounting.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, creative environment while helping shape the experience of aspiring artists.

APPLICATION PROCESS

STEP 1: PREPARE

Review the 2027 Summer information packets for your role(s) of interest before applying.

STEP 2: APPLY

Submit your application once you’ve reviewed all materials.

STEP 3: ROUND 1 INTERVIEW

Qualified candidates will be invited to a Zoom interview.

STEP 4: ROUND 2 INTERVIEW

Selected candidates will participate in a second Zoom interview

TIMELINE

Applications open

Applications open on September 1, 2026 and close on February 28, 2027

  • We encourage candidates to apply early, as hiring decisions are made as interviews are completed.
Round 1 interviews

November 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027

  • Candidates are invited on a rolling basis and will be notified of their round 1 interview invitation within 4 weeks after submitting their application. 
  • It is strongly recommended that invited candidates schedule their round 1 interview as early as possible.
Round 2 interviews

November 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027

  • Candidates are invited on a rolling basis and will be notified of their group interview invitation within 4 weeks after their round 1 interview.
  • Interns are hired as group interviews are completed, so we strongly encourage invited candidates to schedule their group interview as early as possible. 
  • Positions are filled throughout the interview process, and by February or March 2027, openings may be limited or no longer available.


Qualifications, Requirements & Competencies

Minimum requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 18 years or older and eligible to work in the U.S. (excluding Italy Intensive)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively within a team to foster community
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred qualifications

  • Pursuing or holding a BFA, BA, or equivalent degree in dance, arts administration, or a related field
  • Previous administrative and/or customer service experience
  • Experience managing spreadsheets, databases, and tracking systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for the arts and education
  • Background in dance; familiarity with or interest in multiple dance styles is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility and availability to work extended hours during peak periods


Responsibilities

  • Participate in all required training sessions and adhere to assigned schedules and duties
  • Attend all meetings, including weekly staff meetings, evaluations, mentor sessions, one-on-one meetings, and program orientations
  • Assist with preparation before the start of intensives and throughout the summer programs
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for the intensive at the assigned studio location
  • Lead onsite student orientations
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of studios
  • Run errands and handle related logistical tasks
  • Assist the program team with any issues and communicate sensitive information effectively
  • Work closely with staff to ensure a positive and supportive environment for students
  • Communicate with parents when necessary and as directed by your supervisor
  • Maintain class and rehearsal attendance, grid schedules, student schedules, and monitor BAND as directed by your supervisor
  • Support the preparation and operation of performances at the theater



Time commitment

Availability

The summer internship does not follow a traditional schedule. Duty shifts are scheduled five days a week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings, based on the class schedule at the studios and performances at the theaters. Interns should be prepared to work on any day of the week as needed.

Holidays, breaks and vacation periods 

Candidates should communicate all conflicts during their interview. Vacation days are not permitted during the contract period.

The Joffrey Ballet School remains operational during Federal holidays throughout the summer sessions, including Juneteenth and Independence Day.
