Sophia Mintz
Sophia Mintz is a dance artist and educator specializing in flamenco and Spanish dance. With a background in ballet, kathak, and modern dance, Sophia began studying flamenco in Granada, Spain, continuing her studies in NYC where she studied with Jose Molina and Juana Cala, among others. She had the opportunity to study the Spanish Dance Curriculum with Dame Mavis Becker of the Spanish Dance Society and incorporates this unique syllabus into her teaching. Sophia is currently participating in Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana’s Cuadro professional development program for flamenco artists. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied dance, Sophia has performed in a variety of settings and has taught flamenco and Spanish dance since 2014 to children, adults, and seniors. She has taught at the Mark Morris Dance Center, Ballet Hispanico, and in NYC public schools for Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana.
