Safin Karim
Safin Karim is a Music Director, Pianist, and Vocalist hailing from Orlando, Florida. He is now based in New York City and accumulated a body of work in his hometown, including being MD, Keys, and both for shows such as Jason Robert Brown’s Parade, Bridges Of Madison County, and The Last Five Years. Safin’s additional Music Direction work includes Sweeney Todd, Spring Awakening, The Prom, and the Garden Theatre’s ‘Encore Cabaret’ starring Tony Award Winner Kelli O’Hara.
As a pianist, Safin has played and coached masterclasses with Kelli O’Hara and Broadway performer Paige Davis, been the accompanist/MD for West End director Joe Walsh’s ‘Acting Through Song’ workshops, played for The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Dr. Phillips Center’s Steinmetz Hall, and was the keyboardist and bandleader for the band Osceola Rocks, which brought music and music education to underrepresented schools around Central FL.
As a music educator, Safin has been the Musical Theatre instructor and Music Director for educational theatre, including Little Women, The Wizard of Oz, and Princess Diana: The Musical (It’s not the one you’re thinking of) at Harmony High School, Beauty and The Beast Jr. and Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. at The Garden Theatre, Madagascar Jr., The Addams Family: YoungAtPART, Shrek Jr., Newsies Jr., and High School Musical Jr. at the Osceola Center for The Arts, has been the instructor of musical theatre camps throughout Central Florida, teaching classes of kids from 6-17 in sizes of 7-60, and has been a resident musical theatre instructor at The Orlando Family Stage, the Garden Theatre, the Osceola Center For The Arts, and Kabloom! Arts.
Safin currently studies Vocal Performance (with a concentration in Musical Theatre) at NYU Steinhardt.
