Marsha Barsky is Chair and Professor of Dance at Kennesaw State University, where she brings over two decades of experience fostering creative and educational programs across both public and private sectors. A lifelong learner and dedicated artist-educator, she continuously deepens her practice through engagement with contemporary approaches to dance, somatics, and holistic wellness for dancers and non-dancers alike.
Prior to joining KSU, Marsha served as Associate Professor and Director of Dance at Middle Tennessee State University, where she developed Tennessee’s first bachelor’s degree in dance. She also served as Director of the Vanderbilt University Dance Program. Her teaching has taken her across the United States, Canada, France, Switzerland, and Spain. In 2017, she was named Foreign Expert in Dance at Chengdu University in China, and in May 2020 she was a Visiting Scholar at the Kroeger College of Public Affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
Marsha holds an MFA in Performance, Choreography, and Somatics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her somatic training is extensive and integrative: she completed yoga teacher training at ShambhavAnanda Eldorado in Boulder, graduated from the North Carolina Alexander Technique Program (ATI) under the direction of Robin Gilmore, and is a Licensed GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS instructor.
