Marigel Fernández

Lana Fuqua

A native of Veracruz, Mexico, Marigel Fernández is a freelance dance artist in NYC. She graduated from The Hartt School Dance Division where she earned her four-year BFA in Dance Pedagogy and Performance. Marigel started her dance journey learning ballet in Jakarta, Indonesia where she was introduced to all forms of art; she followed her passion in dance joining the Real Ballet de Veracruz and studying the codified curriculum of the Royal Academy of Dance in London. After moving to the United States, Marigel continued her training with the Ballet Memphis Academy where she took classes from Ballet Memphis principal dancers and choreographers in ballet, pointe, variations, and Horton technique. From Memphis, Marigel was accepted into The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas and was introduced to Limón technique, Graham technique, contemporary dance forms, jazz, Musical Theatre, and tap dance. She has studied nationally with the Merce Cunningham Trust, Paul Taylor American Modern Dance, Limón Dance Company, Parsons Dance Company, Nederlands Dans Theater II, Joffrey Ballet San Francisco, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee along with international studies in Amsterdam at the Henny Jurriëns Foundation and in Rome at the Limón Italia Workshop hosted by Dance Continuum. Aside from a performance career, thanks to her pedagogical studies, Marigel is an able dance teacher and has her accreditation in Pilates through the Polestar Pilates Instructor Training Certification Program and certification through the National Pilates Certification Program. Marigel currently works at the Equinox Gyms in the Upper East side as an Instructor and Manager
