Joaquin Ruiz

Letizia Giuliani is an internationally renowned professional ballerina. She began her dance training
with preparatory courses at the National Academy of Dance in Rome. At age 10, she enrolled in
the School of Ballet of the Rome Opera House, where she trained under Elisabetta Terabust and
graduated with honors in 1998. She quickly established herself as one of the most acclaimed
dancers of her generation.
After graduation, she joined the Rome Opera Ballet Company, performing as Principal Ballerina
in lead roles in ballets such as Apollo and Who Cares (choreography by G. Balanchine); Romeo
and Juliet, The Nutcracker, and Coppélia (A. Amodio); Escapade (Alvin Ailey); Bodas de Sangre
(Antonio Gades); There is a Time (J. Limon); Paquita(M. Petipa); Spartacus (Y. Grigorovich); and
Tout Satie (R. Petit).
In 2001, she moved to Florence, performing as Principal Ballerina in numerous repertoire and
contemporary works, including Proust ou les intermittences du cœur (R. Petit), The Nutcracker and
Giselle (E. Polyakov), The Merry Widow(R. Hynd), Coppélia and Don Quixote (C. Jude), Carmen
(A. Amodio), Concerto Barocco and Serenade (G. Balanchine), Les Sylphides (M. Fokine), The
Firebird (M. Fokine), The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude (W. Forsythe), La Sylphide (A.
Bournonville), L’après-midi d’un faune (A. Amodio), The Rite of Spring (J. Neumeier), Women and
Scheherazade(created for her by Gheorghe Iancu), Estri (Aurelio Miloss), Daphnis and Chloe
(Lucinda Childs), Don Quixote (V. Derevianko), BBB (Massimo Moricone), La Fin du Jour

From 2006, she served as Étoile and Principal Ballerina at the Birmingham Royal Ballet,
directed by David Bintley, performing Sleeping Beauty (Peter Wright), Carmina Burana, Season,
and Beauty and the Beast (David Bintley).
She has performed as Guest Étoile with the Rome Opera House, Arena di Verona Foundation,
Teatro Massimo Palermo, Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, Opéra de Nice, Slovak National
Ballet, Opéra d’Avignon, Metropolitan Opera House, Bratislava Opera House, Kiel Opera
House, Bucharest Opera House, New National Theatre Tokyo, Teatro Real Madrid, Gran
Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Festival della Valle d’Itria, and the National Theatre of Korea,
among others. She has appeared at dance festivals in cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong,
Istanbul, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia, Girona, Stockholm, Kiel, Vail (Colorado),
Miami, Rome, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Catania, Todi, and Rapallo.
Her artistic partners have included Igor Yebra, Massimo Murru, Roberto Bolle, Angel Corella,
Umberto De Luca, Francesco Marzola, Gonzalo Garcia, Alessandro Riga, Giuseppe Picone,
Iain Mackay, Alessio Carbone, Alessandro Molin, Alessandro Macario, Riccardo Di Cosmo,
Alessandro Tiburzi, Mario Marozzi, Guillaume Côté, Zdenek Konvalina, Jose Perez, and
Gheorghe Iancu. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Fabio
Luisi, and Daniel Oren.
A central collaboration in her career has been with director and costume designer Pier Luigi Pizzi,
performing as Guest Étoile in operas including Thaïs, La Gioconda, Francesca da Rimini, Les
pêcheurs de perles, and Madama Butterfly, staged in prestigious theaters and festivals worldwide.
Her awards include Oscar dei Giovani (Rome), Premio Positano, Premio Gino Tani, Premio
Adriana Panni, Premio Danza & Danza, Premio Volterra, Premio Apuli Arte, as well as
lifetime achievement awards Roma in Danza, Napoli in Danza, and the Premio San Marco. She
has collaborated with charitable organizations including Telethon, Amiche per la Pelle, Il Sorriso
di Giovanni, Fuori la Voce, Fondazione ANT, and the Italian Red Cross.
Since 2015, she has been a classical ballet teacher, choreographer, and Maître de Ballet at
Balletto del Sud. In 2024, she was part of the creative team for the 71st Puccini Festival in Torre
del Lago, commemorating the centenary of Giacomo Puccini. Since 2023, she has been Maître de
Ballet for Studio Wayne McGregor tours in Italy and President of LG – Sviluppo Arti e
Balletto, which she co-founded with Gheorghe Iancu and Francesco Marzola to create a leading
hub for dance production and education in Northeastern Italy.
She served as Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Special Dance Project 2024 “Puccini
in Danza” for the Italian Ministry of Culture. In April 2025, she choreographed the ballet for La
Wally at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari(direction, set, and costumes by Massimo Pizzi Gasparon
Contarini). She currently serves as Artistic Director of “Dancers Generation EU”, a professional
advancement course for dancers recognized by the Ministry of Culture (D.M. 463, December 23,
2024).
