Michael Waldrop

As a multidimensional artist , JoiLynn creates in the realm of dance, film and music . She trained at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Boston Conservatory, and The Ailey School before studying Haitian folklore and Hip Hop styles in the underground scene NYC.

She has been a featured dancer in numerous stage, film and TV projects and has performed on “Michael and Kelly”, “Rachel Ray”, “The Ellen Show”, “ The David Letterman Show”, and “The Jimmy Kimmel show”, and has performed at Coachella, The Apollo (choreographed by Maurice Hines Jr) , and the Canadian Juno Awards. She has been a Core dancer for Balance Dance Theatre, Ase Dance Theatre Collective, JuxtaPower, and Jazz Ain’t Dead, in addition to being part of the cast for the development of “Holler if You Hear Me” a Broadway show based on the work of Tupac Shakur , “Journey to the West” a Broadway show based on the life of Bruce Lee., and as a swing for the off Broadway production of “Seeing You “, choreographed by Ryan Heffington. You can also see her in music videos for recording artists Jay-Z, Laura Pausini, and Kiesza with whom she is also a lead dancer for her stage shows throughout the US and abroad. She has been a a vocalist featured on stage with bands Asiko , in recordings with General Steele of Smif-N-Wessun, and in stage shows with afro beat sensation Wunmi .

As a choreographer and creative director she has created innovative dance based projects and collaborations for stage and film. She has created for recording artists Sofi Green and Wunmi, for “The Shipment” a play by Young Jean Lee, Sol Afrik: African Fashion Week in NYC, “Michael and Michael have issues“ on Comedy Central, Joffrey Ballet School, and Flash Mob America. As an artist who is serious about the pedagogy and technique of dance, you can also find her instructing workshops for the Joffrey Ballet School and The Ailey School in NYC. In addition, she as held positions as a dance critic, dance grant panelist, competition judge, and has been a featured artist in Dance Mogul magazine.
