Jacoby Pruitt began his dance training in Miami, FL at Expressions Performing Arts under the direction of Ana Bolt. He later went on to attend New World School of the Arts for High school under the direction of Daniel Lewis and Mary Lisa Burns. Jacoby was also a member of the IMPAC Youth Ensemble now known as The Miami Dance Collective under the direction of Marie Gaschler.

Mr. Pruitt is an honors graduate from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, As well as the 2015 recipient of a Young Professional Award from Martha Hill Dance Fund, Ltd. He has studied on scholarship at The Ailey School, Dance Theatre of Harlem, The White Mountain Summer Dance Festival and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. He also studied abroad at HAMU Prague during his time at NYU.

Jacoby has had the privilege of performing works by choreographers Alvin Ailey, Bill T. Jones, Dwight Rhoden, Sean Curran, Shannon Gillen, Jae Man Joo, and Lara Murphy among various others. He has performed as a guest artist with Germaul Barnes Vewsic Dance, The Jamal Jackson Dance Company, Cullen and Them, and Don’t Ask Why in Dallas, TX. Jacoby has danced on Good Morning America, Logo’s Trailblazer Awards, Comedy Central, and the film adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda’s “In The Heights”.  Jacoby was a member of  Ailey II where he had the opportunity to perform alongside the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in Hope Boykins’ “r-Evolution Dream” and Alvin Ailey’s masterpiece “Revelations”. He has also been a member of the Sean Curran Company , The Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and Company XIV.  In 2021 Jacoby joined the BillT. Jones/ Arnie Zane Company.
