Emma Benson is an actor based in Stamford Connecticut who made her New York City theatre debut last year as a swing in “Heathers the Musical”, Off-Broadway at New World Stages. In “Heathers”, she covers all six ensemble members, along with principal roles of Martha Dunstock, Heather MacNamara, and Ms. Fleming. Before her Off-Broadway debut, Emma toured the country with the National Tours of “Something Rotten” and “The Elf on the Shelf: a Christmas Musical”. She has worked regionally in theaters like Tuacahn Center for the Arts, the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, and Shenandoah Summer Music Theater. She spent a year belting 80s rock onboard the cruise ship, The Norwegian Prima, with Syd Norman’s Pourhouse. Emma has worked on pre-production with the Broadway team of “Mrs. Doubtfire”, and Lincoln Center’s “Summer in the City” children’s theatre initiative. She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory, Summa Cum Laude. As an educator, Emma works as a dance teacher at Rising Stars Performing Arts in Norwalk Connecticut, and teaches master classes around New York City and Connecticut. She’s thrilled to be working at the Joffrey Ballet School this summer and excited to share her love and expertise of ‘Heathers’ with another generation. When she’s between performing and teaching gigs, she lives with her fiancé and manages restaurants in Stamford Connecticut: she always has a worthwhile recommendation of a happy hour nearby.
