Job Description

Join the Joffrey Ballet School and be part of an inspiring team and dynamic summer experience! We are looking for proactive, passionate individuals to support our nationwide summer intensives through Residence Life, Administrative, Health & Wellness  and Marketing roles. This is your chance to gain valuable experience in a creative environment while helping shape the future of aspiring artists.

As a Social Media & Marketing Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the Joffrey Ballet School’s Marketing Department by engaging our diverse communities across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This hands-on internship will provide you with the opportunity to conceptualize, create, and publish engaging daily content that highlights both the on- and off-stage experiences of our global summer intensives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about capturing content through photos and videos that align with social media best practices, analytics, and Joffrey Ballet School’s brand priorities.

There is no application deadline, however applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Positions are filled on a rolling basis.

Interviews
  • Interviews will start on January 12, 2026

Candidates should schedule interviews as early as possible. Since contracts are filled as interviews are completed, applicants should consider that more contract lengths and intensive locations will be available, the earlier they apply.


Qualifications, Requirements & Competencies

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 18 years or older and eligible to work in the U.S. (excluding Italy Intensive)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively within a team to foster community
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing or holding a BFA or BA degree with a focus on dance, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience and interest in photography and videography, particularly for social media content
  • Ability to craft engaging copy for young dancers and their parents
  • Knowledge of social media management, content creation, and analytics
  • Passion for the arts and education
  • A background in dance, with an interest in multiple dance styles being a plus
  • Ownership of a DSLR camera is a bonus, though not required
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work long hours, especially during peak periods

Responsibilities

In addition to the list below, other duties will be assigned as needed by the Marketing Director, Creative Director, Marketing Coordinator, or Associate Marketing Coordinator. Interns must be adaptable as role responsibilities may shift.

  • Create and curate engaging content for Joffrey Ballet School’s main social media platforms and any intensive-specific platforms
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos, both horizontal and vertical, that highlight dynamic studio activities and performances
  • Ensure all captured content is vibrant, exciting, and adheres to social media best practices while reflecting technical excellence in dance
  • Collaborate with Artistic Directors and the Marketing Department to document special events, guest faculty sessions, and other key moments for social media
  • Engage with students to capture trending content, ensuring relevance both inside and outside of the studio
  • Assist in organizing and archiving selected content for future promotional use
  • Draft posts and stories that align with the best posting times and Joffrey Ballet School’s brand guidelines for review by the Marketing Department
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions with the Marketing Department and contribute creative ideas
  • Ensure all content ideas are executed on time, with completed materials ready for review
  • Support the marketing team with additional tasks, including reviewing social media analytics, scheduling email blasts, creating digital materials, and picking up printed collateral


Time Commitment

Interns will be assigned to work at the studio, theater, and additional locations for special events. Training sessions will be required, and the internship contract will depend on successfully completing assigned duties and appraisals.

Availability
The internship generally follows a 9–5 schedule from Monday to Friday, with additional hours for performances or special events. Any extra hours worked will be adjusted in the schedule accordingly.

Content Capture
Interns will be responsible for capturing content across all studio groups and levels, with a focus on final performances and special events. They will also assist with behind-the-scenes content and social media promotion during these events.

Holidays, Breaks, and Vacation Periods
The Joffrey Ballet School remains operational during federal holidays throughout the summer sessions, including Juneteenth and Independence Day.

While interns will receive designated days off, please note that vacation days are not permitted during the contract period due to the intensity of the program’s schedule.

Meetings & Activities
Social Media & Marketing Interns are required to attend all meetings, including weekly check-ins, coordination sessions, and one-on-one meetings with supervisors.

Performance Weeks
During performance weeks, interns will spend time in both the theater (for tech/dress rehearsals and performances) and the studio. No days off will be permitted during these weeks.


Payment

The Joffrey Ballet School offers a competitive weekly rate, housing and utilities, and additional benefits like meal plans (at satellite locations), attending ballets and Broadway shows, and subway fare (for NYC). Plus, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a world-class artistic institution, creating invaluable professional connections and memories.
