ANN MARIE DEANGELO is an expert in all types of dance, with an illustrious career that spans over four decades— dancer, choreographer, director, teacher, and producer.  A former principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, she was featured in TIMEMagazine as “one of America’s most outstanding ballerinas” and in the New York Times as “one of American ballet’s most spectacular dancers”.  She later became the Associate Director of the Joffrey Ballet when it moved to Chicago. She was Artistic Director of Ballet D’Angelo, a diverse/eclectic troupe of dancers, that toured extensively in Europe; and founding Artistic Director of Ballet de Monterrey, in Mexico.   She has choreographed over 60 ballets including two musicals in China.  Her one-act “The Bell Witch”—a ghost love-story, was nominated for a Benois de la Danse Award and a segment was performed at the Bolshoi Theater, in Moscow.  She produced/directed two multi-genre dance shows for Capezio; fifteen for the Tony-Award winning Career Transition for Dancers at City Center in New York—raising money to support dancers moving into other careers. DeAngelo’s early training was with Fredericka Mohr in the Cecchetti Method (later with Kirov veterans Anatole Vilzak and Ludmilla Shollar at San Francisco Ballet School). She performed internationally as a guest artist—in classical ballets with companies such as Royal Winnipeg Ballet, National Ballet of Cuba; with Stars of American Ballet and Stars of World Ballet; and appeared on Sesame Street with Skeeter Rabbit. Also working with Frankfurt Ballet under William Forsythe. She’s taught for numerous universities including UCI, UCSB, UNLV,  Purchase, Marymount College, Goucher College, and Hotchkiss; summer programs including Kaatsbaan, and North Carolina School of the Arts; and ballet companies such as Ballet de Monterrey, Joffrey Ballet, Nevada Ballet Theatre, ABT ll, and for The National Choreography Initiative.  Her book, “Produce Yourself! Stand Up! Step Up! & Move!” is a rich dance/life metaphor, serving as a useful tool for anyone seeking the courage to realizing their goals. Current program in development based on her teachings is  “Focus Moves!”.
