Akilah Brooks is Baltimore native, began her dance training at the Baltimore School of the Arts, where she graduated with honors. She is a graduate of Point Park University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. Brooks has performed professionally with Bruce Wood Dance Company and Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, under the direction of Nycole Ray. She has worked with notable choreographers such as Christopher L. Huggins, Troy Powell, Mark Morris, Sidra Bell and Garfield Lemonius. In addition, she was a featured dancer in the Dallas Opera’s production of Show Boat and also teaches at Legacy Dance Center.
