Valerie Madonia is a highly experienced and versatile dancer, director, and teacher, with an extensive career spanning several prestigious institutions. She has danced significant roles with the Joffrey Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, and American Ballet Theatre, while also being a frequent guest artist with renowned companies such as Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet, Complexions, and Armitage Gone! Dance. Her performance in Stravinsky’s L’Histoire Du Soldat with the New York Philharmonic in 2005 highlighted her talent and artistry towards the end of her stage career.
With over 25 years of teaching experience, Valerie has been a faculty member at various distinguished institutions, including the New School University, the Joffrey Ballet School, and Telluride Dance Academy. She has also directed several programs, including the Joffrey South Workshop and Colorado Ballet’s Pre-Professional, Summer Intensive and year round Academy Divisions. As an ABT NTC certified teacher, she regularly teaches at international intensives, such as the Yokohama Ballet Intensive, coaches international students online and is a guest teacher for major ballet companies.
Ms. Madonia is also a master teacher and adjudicator for The Universal Ballet Competitions and a choreographer with several significant works, including: Cinderella for Louisiana Delta Ballet, The Nutcracker for Telluride Dance Academy, Caged Eyes for Colorado Ballet’s Pre-Professional Division, Swaying in Stone with Kim Epifano, Soiree for the Joffrey Ballet School, Shapeshift for Boulder Ballet, The Space Between for The Lake Tahoe Dance Collective
As a repetiteur for the Arpino Foundation, she has staged notable works such as Round of Angels for the Russian Ballet Theatre, Italian Suite for The Lang College at the New School University and AVIDdance, Light Rain Pas de Deux for Colorado Ballet, Ballet Arizona dancers at The Lake Tahoe Dance Collective and Boulder Ballet, Sea Shadow for ABT dancers at the Arpino Centennial Celebration and Dance Theatre of Harlem.
