Thomas Ford is an interdisciplinary dance artist based in Los Angeles and New York. Since 2016, he has collaborated with artistic partner and husband Steven Atwater on work that explores identity, culture and isolation. Ford’s choreography has appeared at the Joyce Theater, Symphony Space, Ailey Citigroup Theater and the Kaye Playhouse; featured in notable programs such as the the Kennedy Center Honors and the White House National Christmas Tree Program; and been presented by Next@Graham via the Martha Graham Dance Company, USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, Capezio A.C.E. Awards, Joffrey Ballet School, STEPS Performance Lab, Peridance APEX Showcase, Capitol Movement and Sierra Madre Playhouse.

Ford has taught company class for BODYTRAFFIC and been a faculty member for year-round or summer pre-professional programs with the José Limón Dance Company, the Joffrey Ballet School, BEMOVING, Marymount Manhattan College, Hunter College/CUNY and USC Kaufman, where he is an Assistant Professor of Practice in contemporary dance. His performance credits span television, commercials, company-based work, national tours and live performances across large and intimate stages—including the Kennedy Center, the Apollo Theater and La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club—and given him the opportunity to work with legendary director-choreographers, such as Debbie Allen and Kenny Ortega.

In addition to being a practitioner, Ford is a writer and scholar who is widely published and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Dance Education (JoDE). He is a 2007 YoungArts (NFAA) winner and Presidential Scholar finalist.
