She began her formal training at the Forrest Academy of Ballet NY under Erin Forrest before continuing her professional development at the Kiev State Ballet Academy, where she immersed herself in the Vaganova method. She later moved to Germany to study at the prestigious Ballet Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. During her three years there, she earned her BA in Dance and performed on the stage of the Bayerisches Staatsballett, gaining extensive experience in both classical and contemporary repertoire.
Following her graduation, Sophia danced with The Sarasota Ballet, expanding her artistry, musicality, and technical versatility through a wide range of company productions. Her professional background reflects a deep commitment to classical discipline, expressive performance quality, and continual artistic growth.
Sophia is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) instructor, and her teaching draws from a strong Vaganova foundation, somatic awareness, and injury-preventive training principles. She has taught at multiple institutions, including Matchpoint Dance Company, the American-Russian Children’s Home Foundation, the Joffrey Ballet School, and other New York–based programs. Known for her supportive yet technically rigorous approach, she integrates her trauma-informed teaching style to prioritize both the physical and emotional well-being of her students.
In addition to her teaching work, Sophia is the founder of Ballet Hotline, a mental-health–focused coaching platform that provides education, resources, and guidance for dancers seeking to strengthen their mindset, manage performance anxiety, and cultivate long-term resilience in the studio and on stage.
Sophia’s professional journey reflects a blend of international training, company experience, and holistic teaching philosophy. She is dedicated to nurturing dancers of all ages through disciplined technique, artistic development, and a mindful, encouraging learning environment.
