Kyla is a recent graduate of Florida State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology this year. This summer, she is excited to return to Joffrey as a member of the Health and Wellness Team, combining her passions for dance and health.
Owen began her dance training at the age of three, growing up in Cody, WY, and later dancing at the pre-professional level in Flagler Beach, FL. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she has worked as Contemporary Faculty for The Tallahassee Ballet, choreographed and produced work for her philanthropy-rooted dance team to be performed at The Donald Tucker Civic Center, and served as President of The Dance Project at FSU, an organization dedicated to providing free dance education in areas with barriers to arts access.
With a strong background in physiology, psychology, nutrition, and public health, Kyla has remained actively engaged in the health and wellness field. She was a founding member of the Exercise Is Medicine Initiative at FSU Campus Recreation and is an AFAA Nationally Certified Group Fitness Instructor with four years of experience in Pilates, Barre, resistance, and cardio formats. Additionally, she has contributed over 250 hours to pediatric healthcare initiatives through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
After working with Joffrey’s administrative team last summer, Kyla is thrilled to be back as a source of support for dancers’ health and wellness!
