Professional dancer, choreographer and master teacher, Joanna Numata, has worked in all realms of the business for over 20 years. Her extensive training and experience have allowed her to make a mark in the commercial dance world.

Joanna’s talent and professionalism have made her a sought after dancer in the industry. She has had the privilege of dancing for a variety of artists such as Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Pharrell, Fergie, Black Eyed Peas, Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Cassie, Romeo Santos, Dirty Money and NKOTB to name a few. Joanna has worked as a principal character/dancer in the feature films I AM LEGEND, Step Up 3D, The Smurfs, and Friends With Benefits. Partial stage and television credits include the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, MTV VMA’s, SNL, Law & Order, Jimmy Fallon, a national commercial for Dr. Scholl’s, Moncler and Desigual for NY Fashion Week, and multiple industrials. Joanna was also featured in an editorial for Nike Women and their #NYMADE campaign.

In addition to her credits as a dancer, Joanna has made a name for herself as a choreographer. She has choreographed national commercials for Kaboom Cleaner, industrials for Redken, and music videos and stage shows for Joey Yung (Hong Kong pop sensation) as well as various other artists and artists in development. Joanna has recently worked on Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Utopia of the Seas, as part of the choreography team for the show ALL IN!

Joanna is on faculty at the world renowned Broadway Dance Center. She also travels the globe, teaching dance workshops and sharing her love of movement and musicality with students. Joanna is passionate about working with the next generation and sharing tools and techniques to prepare them for success in the dance industry. She has taught workshops throughout the US, Asia, Europe and Central America and has been on faculty at Joffrey Ballet School’s Jazz & Contemporary program, Peridance, Limón’s L2 program and Commercial Dance Intensive.
