Christina Chagaris

Hanro Janse van Rensburg

Christina Chagaris, RD is a Registered Dietitian and alum of the Joffrey Ballet School, where she now serves as the school’s Nutrition Instructor. Combining her background in dance with her clinical expertise in eating disorder treatment, Christina supports dancers in developing a healthy, sustainable relationship with food while fueling for performance and longevity in their training.

Christina trained in both the Ballet and Jazz & Contemporary divisions at Joffrey Ballet School before receiving her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Montclair State University. She went on to complete her dietetic internship at Long Island University Post, where she worked with Division I athletes to enhance performance and recovery through nutrition. Christina has since provided care at the partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels, treating individuals with eating disorders and disordered eating.

In addition to her role at Joffrey, Christina is the founder of Dancing Dietitian, a private practice where she provides one-on-one nutrition counseling for dancers and athletes. Her approach is rooted in Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size (HAES), and a non-diet philosophy, blending evidence-based sports nutrition with compassion and lived experience as a dancer.

Christina’s teaching and counseling emphasize the importance of nourishment as a foundation for strength, artistry, and well-being. She aims to empower dancers to fuel their bodies with confidence, build trust in their internal cues, and find freedom from food rules and body pressures. By integrating performance nutrition with a holistic perspective, she helps dancers cultivate resilience both in and beyond the studio.
