Schedule
The summer internship offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment that doesn’t adhere to a traditional 9–5, Monday through Friday schedule. Instead, you’ll have the opportunity to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts throughout the week, fully immersing yourself in the vibrant energy of our summer intensives.
Holidays, Breaks, and Vacation Periods
The Joffrey Ballet School remains operational during federal holidays throughout the summer sessions, including Juneteenth and Independence Day.
While interns will receive designated days off, please note that vacation days are not permitted during the contract period due to the intensity of the program’s schedule.
Meetings & Activities
Interns are expected to participate in all required meetings, including student orientations, weekly staff meetings, reviews, and one-on-one meetings with supervisors.
In addition, interns will be assigned to chaperone dancers to various activities, building supportive relationships with students and ensuring a well-rounded and hands-on experience.
Performance Weeks
Performance weeks are some of the most exciting but busiest times in the studios and residence halls. During this period, interns will assist with overlapping intensives, additional rehearsals, preparations and working at performances, all while managing check-in and check-out days, extra activities, and necessary meetings. Please be aware that no off days are guaranteed during performance weeks due to the heightened demands of the program.
Performances traditionally take place on the last day of intensives. Some intensives have multiple performances during the program.
Payment
The Joffrey Ballet School offers a competitive weekly rate, housing and utilities, and additional benefits like meal plans (at satellite locations), attending ballets and Broadway shows, and subway fare (for NYC). Plus, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a world-class artistic institution, creating invaluable professional connections and memories.
