You will be provided upload instructions for digital photos on arrival. Please do not bring physical photos to submit in person at the audition. Please have a digital headshot & dance shot available on your phone for uploading.
Online Pre-Registered Dancers:
Digital photos are required at the time of registration for all students. Please do not bring physical photos to submit in person at the audition.
Photo Requirements (Max. file size: 1 MB) - Please upload the following to your submission:
Ballet Auditions
• Headshot of dancer
• Photo of the dancer in Arabesque position. (The Arabesque may be en pointe, demi-pointe, or with foot flat on the floor.)
Jazz & Contemporary Auditions
• Headshot of dancer
• Photo of the dancer in any dance position/jump
Musical Theater Auditions
• Headshot of dancer
• Photo of the dancer in any dance position/jump
Tap Auditions
• Headshot of dancer
• Photo of the dancer in any dance position/jump
Hip Hop Auditions
• Headshot of dancer
• Photo of the dancer in any dance position/jump
We use these photos during the audition to help the instructor identify the dancer so they can make an appropriate award and scholarship designations.
These photos DO NOT have to be professional photographs and may be either in color or black and white.
If a dancer is pre-registered, these photos should be uploaded prior to the date of the audition. Additional photos will not be needed on the day of the audition.
If a dancer is a walk-in participant, they should have digital copies ready to upload during the registration process.

Prices listed above are specific to most of our 2025 Domestic Audition Tour locations, spanning across the United States. Some of our partnerships offer dancers a discounted audition rate. International audition locations may also vary in price. Please refer to a specific audition location to confirm all details.
The audition style should match the style of the intensive that your dancer is interested in attending.

• Cirque Arts - No audition is required.
• Digital auditions for our Joffrey Trainee and BFA Programs are accepted throughout the year.
• Digital auditions for our Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensives will be accepted beginning December 1. We accept digital auditions from December 1st until 3 weeks before the start date of the selected summer intensive each year. *We recommend submitting your video by April for the best scholarship opportunities.
Joffrey Ballet School is committed to providing an inclusive environment for all students. Gender non-conforming students, students with religious and cultural considerations, and students needing additional support are welcome to contact us to discuss the dress code via our Customer Support team at support@joffreyballetschool.com.
Without previous discussion, adherence to the dress code is mandatory for all in-person, virtual, and digital auditions.
Ballet Auditions
(In-Person, Virtual, and Digital Auditions)
Students auditioning for a Summer Ballet Intensive or our year-round Ballet Trainee Program should wear:
- Option 1: A black leotard, pink/skin tone tights, and pink/skin tone ballet slippers. Tights and slippers should match in color. Students, with training en pointe, should bring their pointe shoes. Hair must be secured neatly off the face. Please remove all accessories and large jewelry, prior to the audition.
- Option 2: Black tights, black or white ballet slippers, with a black or white fitted t-shirt. Hair must be secured neatly off the face. Please remove all accessories and large jewelry, prior to the audition.
Jazz & Contemporary Auditions
(In-Person, Virtual, and Digital Auditions)*
- Students auditioning for a Summer Jazz & Contemporary Intensive or our year-round Jazz & Contemporary Trainee Program should wear a form-fitted top, in a neutral color, with fitted pants. This can include tights, leggings, joggers, or other apparel that do not restrict a dancer’s ability to move freely. Shorts are not ideal, to be sure dancers are prepared for floor work. Socks are preferred, but ballet slippers or jazz shoes are also permissible, depending on the dancer’s preference during regular training. Hair should be secured neatly off the face. Please remove all accessories and large jewelry, prior to the audition. No sports bras or halftops in any style.
*If a Joffrey Ballet School Audition is held at a Convention or another event where time is limited before or after the audition, please do your best to adhere as closely to the dress code as possible. Dancers will not be penalized, if it is not possible to match all requirements of the dress code at these events.
Musical Theater Auditions
(In-Person, Virtual, and Digital Auditions)
- Students auditioning for a Summer Musical Theater Intensive should wear a form-fitted top, in a neutral color, with fitted pants. This can include tights, leggings, joggers, or other apparel that do not restrict a dancer’s ability to move freely. Character heels are preferred, but not mandatory. Heels should only be worn if already owned and the dancer has experience moving and wearing them regularly. Jazz shoes or socks are also permissible. Hair should be secured neatly off the face. Please remove all accessories and large jewelry, prior to the audition. No sports bras or half tops in any style.
Hip-Hop Auditions
(In-Person, Virtual, and Digital Auditions)
- Students auditioning for a Summer Hip Hop Intensive should wear apparel that represents their personality, without restricting their ability to move freely. Color and style of clothing are open to personal choice – but please do not wear jeans. Sneakers should be worn, but must be used for dance only – do not wear shoes that have been worn outside. Remove all accessories and large jewelry, prior to the audition.
Tap Auditions
(In-Person, Virtual, and Digital Auditions)
- Students auditioning for a Summer Tap Intensive should wear apparel that represents their personality, without restricting their ability to move freely. Color and style of clothing are open to personal choice – but please do not wear jeans. Tap shoes are required. Screws on tap shoes must be checked and tightened, to prevent damage to the studio floor. Please remove all accessories and large jewelry, prior to the audition. No sports bras or halftops in any style.

In-Person Auditions:
Cut-off time for Online Pre-Registration is 3 pm PST/6 pm EST for all in-person auditions (Domestic & International) the day before the audition. Dancers who miss this deadline can proceed to register as a Walk-In. Please arrive at the registration Check-In time.
Virtual Auditions: Cut off time is 1 hr prior to the start of the Virtual Audition Check-In Time. This applies to all virtual auditions (Domestic & International).
In-person and virtual audition results are processed and sent the Wednesday following your audition.
Digital audition submissions may require additional time and are generally provided 2 weeks after the submission date.
An email will be sent to both the Dancer and Parent email addresses provided with detailed information on the programs that students are accepted to for the summer.
Acceptance letters will also include any scholarship award that is being offered to the student, along with the deadline for registration. PLEASE NOTE: Dancers must register by their deadline to utilize the scholarship award. After that date, the award will be passed along to another student.
