STUDENT HOUSING SAFETY POLICIES (AGES 14-17)Student’s ages 14 - 15 will be accompanied by RAs to and from the dormitory and the school. These students will have a 9:00 PM curfew at the facility. Students in this age group may not leave the dormitory in groups of less than 2, unless they are going to the grocery or pharmacy across the street. Students are limited to a specific geographic area around the dormitory, beyond which they may not go. When students leave the building they must sign out, list their destination and expected return time. Students who fail to follow these and the other rules of the dormitory will be confined to the dormitory after class, except to purchase food and other necessities, for a duration determined by the Head Resident. Students 16 and older are required to follow the curfew guidelines but will not be accompanied by an RA RESIDENT ASSISTANT & CHAPERONESWe will have 1 Resident Assistant (RA) for every 20 students under the age of 18 and 1 Head Resident in charge of all Joffrey students who will live at the dormitory. Interested parents may apply to become RAs or Chaperones by filling out the RA application form. Students will be placed in the dorm by age. There are single, double, and triple rooms. Students may request a particular roommate. We will have 1 Chaperone for every 5-6 children ages 12-13 residing in the same facility/unit.The chaperone is a professional that goes through an extensive interview process. ROOM ASSINGMENTSRoom assignments will be made solely by Joffrey Ballet School staff. Should you request a particular roommate, we will make every effort to accommodate your request. Should we match you with a roommate, Joffrey Ballet School will attempt to give you information about your roommate at least a week prior to your arrival. In the event of a roommate conflict, Joffrey Ballet School reserves the right to relocate roommates to another room similar to the room to which they are currently assigned.
FOOD ALLERGIESWith response to food allergies, specifically any potentially life threatening allergy, the Joffrey Ballet School wants to be clear that we will do what ever is possible to avoid any situation that would put a student at risk but the responsibility ultimately lies with the student and parent . If you decide to move your child into a Joffrey residence it will be the students responsibility to make sure that all utensils, cooking items and food be kept separate from the other students with whom an apartment is shared. It is your responsibility as a parent to insure that your child is capable and properly trained to protect themselves from exposure to their allergy in a communal environment. We are more than happy to assist you in this process but can not guarantee nor do we warrant that your child will not come into contact with the allergen. If the food allergy could result in a life threatening reaction then we strongly recommend that you find housing that is separate, more controllable and safe for your child. Should you decide to house your child at a Joffrey residence please be aware that you will have to sign a release of liability form.
