Hip Hop- ages 5 - 9 (students must be 5 bySeptember 10, 2012) This class has been designed to introduce young children to basic hip-hop techniquecombined with fundamental concepts of Jazz. Dance With Me- ages 2-3 (students must be 2 bySeptember 10, 2012) Thisclass has been specially designed for 2–3yr olds who are not yet comfortablebeing in a class alone, each child is joined in the class by a parent orcaregiver who will be the child's "dancing partner". Through movementexercises, games, stories and other activities, the very young are introducedto the joy of creative movement in a fun, musical setting. Live pianoaccompaniment provides an enriching and stimulating environment forall classes. Baby Ballerinas- ages 3-4 (students must be 3 bySeptember 10, 2012) Childrenwho are ready to be in a class by themselves will begin to learn the basicelements of creative movement and basic ballet: Socialization skills such asturn-taking and following instructions will be emphasized. The young childrenwill explore movement qualities, musicality, practice gross motor coordinationand work on simple locomotion, enhancing the development of both their bodiesand their minds! Creative and fun games, stories and imaginative exercises willsend them home happy and invigorated. Live piano accompaniment provides anenriching and stimulating environment for allclasses. Demi Soloists- ages 4-5 (students must be 4 bySeptember 10, 2012) Childrenwill continue to practice the basic elements of creative movement and basicballet. The children will be encouraged to expand their movement vocabularythrough movement games and creative exploration of time, weight and space. Livepiano accompaniment provides an enriching and stimulating environment forall classes. Pre Ballet 1- ages 5-6 (students must be 5 bySeptember 10, 2012) Theelements of creative movement will be augmented by more coordination andsequence-related exercises; floor formations that teach children to remembertheir "place" in the room; movement exercises that emphasize straight legsand pointed feet, posture, placement, stretches and comportment of classicalballet. Basic ballet concepts such as 1st and 2nd positions, plié andrelevé will be introduced. Fun, creative elements such as stories, gamesand other imaginative activities will keep the pace of the class lively andengaging. Live piano accompaniment provides an enriching and stimulatingenvironment for all classes. Pre Ballet 2- ages 6-7 (students must be 6 bySeptember 10, 2012) Childrenare ready to be introduced to a class format that aims to prepare them for a"real" ballet class. The elements of creative movement will be augmented bymore coordination and sequence-related exercises; floor formations that teachchildren to remember their "place" in the room; movement exercises thatemphasize straight legs and pointed feet, posture, placement, stretches andcomportment of classical ballet. Basic ballet concepts such as 1st and 2nd positions, plié andrelevé will be introduced. Foundations 1- ages 7-8 (students must be 7 bySeptember 10, 2012) Foundationsof Ballet 1 bridges a student's transition from the Children's program into amore structured class environment. They are introduced to an increased level offormal training consisting of barre and centre work. The posture, placement andcomportment of classical ballet will be emphasized. The practice exercisesintroduced at this level for alignment, flexibility, and coordination willdevelop a strong foundation of physical and cognitive understanding necessaryfor Classical Ballet training. Live piano accompaniment provides an enrichingand stimulating environment for all classes. Foundations 2- ages 8-9 (students must be 8 bySeptember 10, 2012) Foundationsof Ballet 2 continues to stress posture, placement and comportment whileexpanding the students ballet vocabulary. Foundations of Ballet for Boys- 7-9 (studentsmust be 7 by September 10, 2012) TheFoundations of Ballet for Boys class has been designed to introduce young boysto the attributes necessary to becoming a successful male dancer in ClassicalBallet. This program allows boys to gain confidence in their dancing with thesupport of a caring and nurturing faculty.
