The Adult program is open to anyone and is designed for the adult student who has no formal ballet training or who has studied ballet in the past and wishes to resume training. Emphasis will be on correct placement, body alignment, toning and stretching. Ongoing training in proper ballet techniques reshapes body lines, tones muscles, improves balance, strength, grace, and physical coordination in addition to deepening the appreciation of ballet as an art form.

The Adult program is an on-going program. You may drop in anytime to join the class. Please arrive at least 15 minutes earlier to register and sign-in for the class. No advanced registration is required.

Joffrey Ballet School will be closed for Labor Day Weekend. (Saturday 9.4.10, Sunday, 9.5.10, and Monday 9.6.10)

DRESS CODE

T-shirt, tights, jazz pants or exercise pants. No baggy clothes, shorts, and excessive jewelry. Ballet slippers are mandatory for ballet classes. Jazz shoes or ballet shoes are required for jazz class.

Class Fees
$15.00 per single class

10 Class Card: $135.00 = total cost saving of $15 - expires three months after first class.
50 Class Card: $600 = total cost saving of $150 - expires one year after first class.
100 Class Card: $1000.00 = total cost saving of $500 -
expires one year after first class.



Class Description
Absolute Beginner Ballet Course: Joffrey Ballet School periodically offers seminars/courses for adult students new to ballet class. Unlike most of our classes, these courses do require pre-registration, as they are a series of classes, not a single drop-in class. The next course is scheduled to begin July 12th, 2010. Basic Ballet: This class is for new students to ballet or for those continuing from the Absolute Beginner Ballet Course. This class will break down the basics of ballet.
Beginner Ballet: This is a perfect class for anyone who has had some ballet training. It will have slightly more challenge from the Basic One Ballet class.
Advanced Beginner Ballet: This is for a student who has taken our Beginner Ballet class, and is looking for an increase in challenge.

Intermediate Ballet: This fast-paced adult class is for those proficient in the basics of ballet.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet:
This fast-paced adult class is for those proficient in the basics of ballet.

Beginner Pointe:
This class is for those who have taken our ballet class, and been assessed by Sidney Lowenthal as ready to go en pointe. It is recommended to take a ballet (technique) class before taking pointe each time.

Beginner Jazz:
(Designed for those with NO prior dance Experience) This energizing class will teach coordination, strength, and flexibility with fun exercises and across the floor movement. Eventually, this class will build to center combinations of choreography.

Beginner Modern:
(Designed for those with NO prior dance Experience) This class teaches a centered technique, along with expressive movement. The movement principles are based on traditional modern dance technique, building strength and dynamic skill.

Beginner Contemporary:
(Designed for those with NO prior dance Experience) This class will focus on new movement patterns and ideas, while also drawing on concepts from both modern dance and ballet. Students will learn how to find their own stylistic and artistic voice in their interpretations of movement.

LASTICS:
Adult stretch (ALL LEVELS) Lastics is created by Donna Flagg and is based on the nuance of intricate movements applied to the body so as to generate maximum length in the muscles. We know you will enjoy this full-body stretch that leaves you and your muscles feeling exhilarated and relaxed. This is a one hour stretch class that teaches you how to articulate your body in ways that elongate muscles from end-to-end. You will learn exercises that increase your flexibility over time and improve your body awareness through a special mind/muscle connection.

BODY BALL:
(ALL LEVELS) Body Ball is based on scientifically proven neuromuscular release techniques that simulate deep tissue massage and active stretching methods. Work out those tight muscles! Get rid of aches and pains!
