ADULT BALLET Before coming to New York City Ms. Lowenthal taught Ballet at the Bristol School of Ballet in Bristol, Virginia. There she taught beginner - advanced classes as well as ballet and modern classes at Virginia Intermont College. Ms. Lowenthal trained and performed at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival from 1967-1969. During the off season Ms. Lowenthal attended the University of Utah from 1967-70 where she was a ballet major and performed with Ballet West. In addition she performed in operas in Salt Lake City and Central City, Colorado. Ms. Lowenthal received a BFA from Virginia Intermont College in 1974, where she studied with Constance Hardinge, the director of the program. In Bristol, Ms. Lowenthal performed with the Bristol Concert Ballet Company as a demi-soloist and soloist. In addition, Ms. Lowenthal studied at the Joffrey Ballet School with Meredith Baylis, Basil Thompson, Ann Parsons, and Dorothy Lister. Ms. Lowenthal began teaching at the Joffrey Ballet School in 1976. In addition to her dance career Ms. Lowenthal completed the Master of Arts degree at New York University in 1996 in Teaching English as a Second Language from the School of Education. She received New York State Teacher Certification in 1997 and has been teaching English as a Second Language at the United Nations International School in New York City since 1997.
