Two Weeks: Rate: $1,199.00 Overview The Joffrey Ballet School is very excited to bring you the Summer of Jazz & Contemporary Intensives and Weekend Workshops. Since its foundation four years ago, the Joffrey Ballet School Jazz and Contemporary Program has been at the forefront of providing students with the widest range of contemporary techniques. The program explores innovative and cutting edge Jazz and Contemporary movement. It couples cutting edge dance along with classical training for dancers to improve their capabilities and expand their technical range. The program is all encompassing; students can improve in their technical abilities, while growing as artists by being exposed to new and innovative dance techniques. These programs were conceived for students that want to push beyond the realm of technique and rules. It is targeted for dancers who are interested in exploring new ideas and approaches to movement while being exposed to the new emerging dance world. The program forges excellence and creates the art of motion.
These programs are high energy. You must be ready to work hard, dance hard, and emerge as a new artist. The intensives empower the students to take the steps forward to becoming working artists in the dance world.
During our intensives, the students study with dancers and company artists from around the globe. They bring their understanding of what is currently being put onstage, and how to achieve and pursue that type of work. The faculty is comprised of the year-round Joffrey Ballet School instructors as well as jazz, contemporary and modern teachers/choreographers of New York City.
We have program locations in both New York City and Miami. Both offer energy, dynamic dance studies, and superior education for a dancer pursuing a well-rounded career.

NEW -Jazz & Contemporary Dance Trainee Program
September 15th 2010 through June 5th 2011
The year round Jazz & Contemporary trainee program is designed to create well-rounded dancers. The program is geared towards the dancer who is well trained in jazz & contemporary style movement. This program offers innovative and cutting edge contemporary movement, various styles of Jazz instruction, as well as classical training. The curriculum consists of classes in Forsythe technique, contemporary dance, classical and contemporary modern, contemporary jazz, ballet, musical theater, partnering, choreography and improvisation. The students are also given performance opportunities through a Student Choreography Workshop, a Contemporary Dance Series, and a Spring Concert. This is the most diverse training program in New York City.
